Casa Hogar

logoWe will soon be starting up support for a newly founded home for boys in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The Casa currently provides twenty two at-risk boys between the ages of six and fourteen. These boys have been taken from their homes by the Mexican government agency D.I.F. because of parents who are involved in drug abuse, prostitution or child abuse. Some of the boys cared for in this home are orphans found alone on the streets of Cabo or near by villages or towns. The facility has been recently finished with modern kitchen and bathroom conveniences and could house up to sixty children. At this point the Director, Mike Pearce is only able to commit to caring for 22 children due to lack of regular funding for staff, food and other necessities needed for more kids. CRUSH team members were introduced to Mike and Casa Hogar during a vacation trip down to Mexico. While down there we were gifted with a large tuna fish caught by a friend during a fishing trip. Neither our friends nor we could use all of the meat from this 137 pound fish. So we researched charities in the area and found Casa Hogar. We met Mike, his on-site staff and the twenty two boys, ages ranging from six years to fourteen years old that currently reside there. We toured the eighteen month old facility and were given a complete detailing of the organization, how it is run and funded as well as the governmental requirements to run such a facility. The first thing they asked for when we inquired about their needs was jackets! Yes, they do need jackets for the kids, even in sunny Mexico. So of course through our Coats for Kids program we purchased as many coats as we could and provided funds for the balance that was needed. At that point we decided to do what we could through CRUSH to provide as much regular and on-going funding as we could through our generous donors. You.
